On a + note

I’m thankful for… #45: 2013

Posted in on a + note by flickfancy on November 11, 2013

I am truly happiest when I feel the most grateful. The trick is to slowdown enough to smell the roses!

Consequently, somewhere between Canadian Thanksgiving (October 14th) and American Thanksgiving (November 28th) I thought a list of what I am most thankful for would be appropriate. For starters, I am thankful for:

► Chocolate…any time and in any form

► The Canadian health care system… although not perfect, it’s still great

► Technology… it makes my life so much better!!

Alice Munro, the first Canadian women to win the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature

► Amazing cookbook writers like Rose Murray, Elizabeth Baird and Ina Garten

► Fabulous authors like Malcolm Gladwell

Stan Rogers whose iconic voice, after all these years still wraps me up like a warm Hudson Bay blanket

► Great mayors like Naheed Nenshi of Calgary and Guelph’s own Karen Farbridge who understand, use and support public libraries

► Independent bookstores like The Bookshelf

► Sleep, sleep and did I say sleep!

► All 5,000+ varieties of hostas

► Pets and sisters who share the adventure, rain or shine

LBD’s, wool sweaters, silk scarves, Roots boots and Chanel #5

Library Friends groups who love and support us through thick and thin

► Passionate, visionary library board members who volunteer their time and wisdom to move libraries forward

► The spouses, family and friends of library workers who put up with our obsession

But, most of all, I am thankful for all the amazing library staff who make a difference in all our lives every single day.

You rock!
